피플링은 야후 블로그를 쓰지 않고 있는 블로거도 참여가 가능합니다.
야후 블로거가 아닌 모든 블로거를 이하 외부 블로거란 명칭으로 사용합니다.
외부 블로거가 야후 블로거에 가입하실 때는 다음과 같은 프로세스를 거쳐야 합니다.
1. 우선 피플링에 접속하시면 이와 같은 로그인 창이 있습니다. 여기에서 피플링 로그인을 선택하세요.
2. 피플링 로그인 창은 야후 ID가 없는, 외부블로거 등록을 한 사용자들이 로그인을 하는 창입니다. 야후의 ID 대신 자신의 이메일과 비밀번호를 이용해 로그인을 하도록 되어 있습니다. 새로 외부블로거 회원가입을 하려는 분들은 화살표의 '외부블로거 등록'을 클릭하세요.
3. 외부블로거 등록을 위해서는 4가지만 입력하세요. 자신의 이메일(로그인 시에 ID 대신 이용됩니다), 비밀번호, 닉네임 그리고 블로그 주소. 서비스 이용을 위한 정말 최소한의 정보만을 받고 있습니다.
화면의 설명을 보면 '본인 확인 메일'이라는 표현이 있습니다. 이메일 주소의 확인을 위해 입력한 메일로 본인 확인 메일을 보내거든요. 그 메일을 받아서 확인을 해야만 가입처리가 완료됩니다.
또 이와 별도로 블로그의 도용을 피하기 위해 '이메일 서비스를 제공하는 서비스 업체의 블로그의 경우' 해당 이메일로 블로그가 피플링에 등록되었음을 알려주는 확인 메일을 보내도록 되어 있습니다.
즉, 누군가 "http://blog.naver.com/TTTT.do"라는 블로그를 등록했을 때, 네이버 메일의 TTTT라는 계정으로 자신의 블로그가 피플링에 등록되었다고 알려주는 거랍니다. 네이버와 다음, 엠파스 등은 블로그의 ID와 이메일의 ID가 동일하기 때문에 이런 메일을 날려드릴 수 있습니다.
설마 그럴 일은 없겠지만, 다른 사람이 유명한 블로거의 주소를 도용할 수도 있겠다 싶어서 마련한 안전장치랍니다. 만약 이런 일이 발생할 경우, 도용해 등록한 정보는 삭제하게 되지요.
3-1. 서비스형 블로그 사용자의 경우
네이버, 이글루스 등과 같은 서비스형 블로그 사용자들의 경우에는 자신의 ID만 입력을 하면 자동으로 RSS 주소등이 입력됩니다. 자신이 사용하는 업체를 선택하시고, 자신의 ID를 입력하세요. (최근에 새롭게 서비스가 시작된 곳들은 미처 확인이 안되어 있는 경우도 있습니다. ex. 블로거닷컴 한글판)
3-2. 설치형 블로그 사용자의 경우
MT, TT, ZOG등의 사용자는 직접 블로그 주소와 RSS 주소를 입력해 주셔야 합니다.

마지막으로 서비스형 블로그들의 블로그 주소 및 RSS url TYPE 입니다. 이 정보를 기본으로 해서 서비스형 블로거들은 자신의 ID만 입력해도 자동으로 블로그 URL 및 RSS 주소를 뽑아주고 있답니다. RSS 주소가 빨간색으로 되어 있는 곳들은 RSS URL에 ID가 아닌 숫자가 들어가 있기 때문에 현재로서는 자동으로 주소가 입력 되지 않습니다.
