2x13 Gallery Seoul is pleased to present New York based artist Koh’s solo exhibition, from July 5th to August 11th, 2007. This marks Koh’s first Seoul show in six years. As a graduate of Chicago Art Institute in 2001, Koh reached early critical acclaim and showed with the Carl Hammer Gallery in Chicago immediately upon graduation.

Koh’s work examines the experience of Korean Americans in the United States. Drawing upon his own background of coming to the United States after middle school, he interprets ideas of dislocation and fantasy. He uses the inversed negative image of photographs and video to create distorted self-portraits. Koh states” “the negative-positive photographic switch blurs the distinctions of skin color, gender, East/West, and reality/fantasy”.
