The ISKA was orginally the Intercultural Spouses Association (ISA) founded and
launched in March 25, 2000 by foreign wives of Koreans - aimed at providing
friendship among women with Korean husbands and to establish network among its
members.
History
ISKA was an upshoot of the forum on the "Lives of Foreign Women with Korean
Husbands" arranged by the Korea UNESCO Cultural Exchange Services (KUCES) in
November 17, 1999 which was participated in by 10 foreign women.
Iskakorea.com is the official homepage of the International Spouses of Koreans
Association (ISKA), a support group for non-Korean women who are married to Korean
men based in Seoul, Korea. Opened in February 15, 2003, the website aims to
accomplish two major things: to serve as a gateway of information related to the
marriages between foreign women and Korean men and to provide a venue for online
interaction not only for its members, but also to those who are concerned with the
issues on interracial marriages in Korea. As such, everyone is free to have access
to the information provided and to take part in activities that may be of help
in improving or enriching its contents.
Oh no no no... I'm not married to a Korean... kekeke...I'm still single. I included this post here for non-Korean bloggers with Korean husbands. I thought the support group might be useful for them.
小恐龍友, I've no dream about marrying a Korean actor... kekeke... but I do pray hard that I'll get to shake Bae Yong Joon's hands one day and maybe get a hug from him... hahaha...
You know it's funny, they don't show the other side of the story. You know for instance the stereotype that Western men are so much better. Yet they view Asian women as submissive and as sex toys. If you don't believe me then just look at how Hollywood portrays Asian. IF you want to know how Westerners view different people all you have to do is watch their movies.
If the movies were made in Hollywood, of course the western men were heros and asian men were villains. The vice versa occurs in some asian films.
Asian women are generally being stereotyped as submissive. That's why they are usually portrayed in this manner in some movies. However, I feel that the highly educated asian women are slowly becoming more independent.
