The Korean Forces Network begins broadcasting today with a message from President Roh:
In a video message to a ceremony marking the opening of the Korean Forces Network (KFN), Roh said, "I believe the launch of KFN will serve as an opportunity to further increase the public's trust in the military."
"I wish you play a central role in helping the military carry out national defense along with the people by showing vividly to the public the defense reforms and soldiers' welfare as they are," the president said.
Roh also hoped the military television network would improve culture in the barracks by imbuing soldiers with vitality and an opportunity to learn new things.
KFN is to begin broadcasting 20 hours per day from 6 a.m. Thursday, airing mostly military-related stories, information and education programs to meet soldiers' needs.
