USFK is half finished with force modernization, according to an insider:
"The arms build-up program is to be completed by next year as scheduled but was half completed already," the insider at the U.S. Forces Korea (USFK) told Yonhap News Agency by telephone.
The reinforcement project is aimed at upgrading the USFK's combat aircraft and communication, intelligence and surveillance systems and will introduce a set of sophisticated weapons systems including precision-guided missiles.
Changes that have been made under the program include the introduction of AH-64D Longbow Apache attack helicopters and Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs), as well as the deployment of new Patriot PAC-3 interceptors, the insider said.
The U.S military has also improved its M1A1 Abrams battle tanks and upgraded its command system in South Korea known as "C41," he said."The arms build-up program is to be completed by next year as scheduled but was half completed already," the insider at the U.S. Forces Korea (USFK) told Yonhap News Agency by telephone.
