노라 존스 노래 읽기 2탄!
Don't know why 는 노라 존스의 초기 히트곡이라 워낙 세계적으로 유명하지만
한국서도 이미 10여년 전부터 각종 프랜차이즈 커피숍을 두루 평정한 분위기 메이커로 모르는 사람 없는 탓에,
새삼 가사를 들여다보는 것조차 계면쩍은 기분이어서 조금 색다르게! 세서미 스트릿 버전을 올려본다.
노라존스가 직접 피아노 연주를 하며 Don't Know Why의 가사를 알파벳 학습 버전으로 개사해 부르는데 아주 제대로 맛이 난다. 가사를 상당히 바꿨는데도 원곡과 별 다르지 않게 들리는 것이 아주 절묘!
따라서 원곡 가사는 스킵하고 개사된 리릭과 대사를 옮겨 담는다. 굳이 해석을 붙일 필요는 없을 듯.
원곡에서는 I don't know why I didn't come 인데 I 를 Y로 바꿔 부르고 있다, 하하.
세서미 스트릿에서 가장 사랑스러운 캐릭터 엘모가 곁에 앉아 함께 얘기 나누는 구성이 재밌다.
그런데 사실 엘모도 쿠키 몬스터같은 몬스터 동족인데 그 목소리나 행동거지는 말할 수 없이 귀엽고 유쾌한 캐릭터지.
노라존스와 나누는 엘모의 말과 리액션에 주목하면 더 즐겁다.
오늘 여기는 오월오일- 세서미 스트릿의 재미를 뒤늦게 알게 해주었던 어린 희찬이의 어린이날을 모처럼 추억하면서.
