I accidentally stumbled upon the following news alert for EBS' new intermediate level 25-week long Korean-learning TV programme.
This programme is meant for the Chinese, Russian and Vietnamese women married to Korean men and living in Korea.
The programme of EBS Plus2 debut today, 19th November 2007, at 6:00 am (Seoul time). The Chinese version is on Mondays, Russian version on Tuesdays and Vietnamese version on Wednesdays. Each episode is 30-minute long. Interestingly, there is no version for the many Filipino women married to Korean men. Perhaps the expectation is that they can avail themselves to other Korean learning programmes taught through English.
I watched the first lesson and was suitably impressed. The level of Korean proficiency being taught certainly plugs a gap in what is currently available from other sources of learning Korean onl ine and for free. I also laud EBS' efforts in spotting the need of this group of foreign wives and creating this series of programme for them.

No script or notes of the programme seems to be provided, or at least I cannot find any link to it. For those who cannot understand any of the three languages through which Korean will be taught through this programme. I will share my notes in English. However, my notes may be brief and I'll probably note down onl y those grammar points new to me.
외국인 며느리 위한 EBS 한국어 강좌

(서울=연합뉴스) 윤고은 기자 = EBS 위성채널 EBS플러스2가 한국으로 시집온 외국인 며느리들을 위한 한국어 강좌를 실시한다.
EBS플러스2는 19일부터 내년 5월7일까지 25주 과정으로 매주 월~수요일 오전 6시 한국어 강좌를 진행한다. 이번 강좌는 중급 과정으로 중국어, 러시아어, 베트남어 등 3개국어로 제작됐다. 방송은 월요일-중국어, 화요일-러시아어, 수요일-베트남어 순으로 각 30분간 꾸며진다.
EBS 한국어 강좌는 국립국어원이 개발한 '여성 결혼 이민자를 위한 한국어 중급' 교재를 토대로 하고 있으며, 결혼 이민 여성들의 실생활과 관련된 소재를 중심으로 일상회화와 읽기, 쓰기 능력을 높이는 데 주안점을 둔다.
방송 이후에는 EBS 홈페이지(www.ebs.co.kr)를 통한 무료 '다시 보기' 서비스도 이뤄진다.
이에 앞서 EBS는 국립국어원과 손잡고 6월에는 베트남어, 태국어, 말레이-인도네시아어, 몽골어, 러시아어로 배우는 한국어 기초 회화를 16주 과정으로 방송한 바 있다.
