나는 책을 읽다가 잠들었다 I fell asleep while reading.

집에 오다가 김 선생님을 만났다 I met Mr. Kim on my way home.

고기를 다 잡았다가 놓쳤다 I almost caught the fish.

   비가 오더니 날씨가 따뜻해졌다 It´s been raining and now it´s turned warm.

   계속 노름을 하더니 그는 결국 가산을 탕진하고 말았다 He went on gambling until at last he lost all his fortune.

~텐데 / ~할 수 있었다(면)

(1) could

I would do it if I could. 내가 할 수 있다면 할 텐데(실제로 할 수가 없다).

You could have told me! 말해 주었더라면 좋았을 텐데 (왜 말해 주지 않았는가)!

(2) if

If I knew his address, I could give it to you. 그의 주소를 알고 있다면 너에게 줄 수 있을 텐데.

If I were you, I would help him. 내가 너라면 그를 도와줄 텐데.

If I had known, I wouldn’t have done it. 알고 있었다면 그것을 하지 않았을 텐데.

   대체 언제 가야 될는지? It pains me to think when it will be ready.
