'불멸의 심장'을 뜻하는 만달레이...
왜 그들의 이름을 만들레이라고 지었을까....
인도 차이나 반도의 왼쪽에 위치하고 있는 불교의 나라 버마(미얀마)
수도(불교중심지로서 수많은 승려들의 본고장) 이름을 따왔을까,
아니면... 라스베가스의 옆동네 이름일까.
.....
보컬이 갖는 영향력...
편곡은 대충하면서 무턱대고 고음부터 질러대거나 간드러진 기교로만
이뤄진 허접한 사운드는 내겐 최악의 음악이다.
보컬도 하나의 악기처럼 소화되는 곡, 튀지 않으면서 전체적인 조화를 이루고,
그 속에서 더욱 빛을 발하는 절제된 음색, 그런 환상적인 사운드를 만나면
더할 수 없이 행복하다. 특히 여성 보컬. 섬세하면서 예민하고 고혹적이면서 지적인 그녀들의 목소리. 아쉽게도 이 듀오는 2001년도에 해체되었다고 한다 이 세상엔 내가 들어보지도 못한 너무나 많은 음악이 존재 한다.
